Quiet afternoon on the farm - Finally posting after 8 years!
It's been 8 years since we posted! We've been up to a lot lately! We moved out of the city and out to the country about 7 years ago and have been nestling into our little homestead in Kansas ever since.
We have had a variety of animals join us along the way. Here is a short video compilation of the animals that we have joining us these days.

Bees swarming from hive to tree and taken back to hive

We have a very strong colony of bees that has done well for a couple years now and they finally decided to split off. We were able to catch the split on camera and follow the swarm that only traveled about 30 yards across our backyard. Then catch the swarm and bring them back to a new box. We catch several bee colonies by using small bait hives along with lemon grass oil and black comb. This was an extra swarm trap that we just set right outside our back door up on top of our trailer just to see if we could watch a swarm move in. We incubated these eggs in our Genesis 1588 Hova Bator incubator for 21 days. We are very impressed with this incubator and definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to do some home hatching! Hive Entrance of a Swarm colony transfer Top Bar Hive

This is a very strong colony of bees that was brought in from one of our swarm traps. They were transferred into the Top Bar Hive a few minutes before this video was taken. They are adjusting very nicely to their new home and quickly learn the "ins and outs" to their new location.

Transfering a colony of bees from a swarm trap into a Kenyan Top Bar Hive. Inside the bait hive, we put a small super frame with old black brood comb and the bees absolutely loved it! As you can see in the opening picture, the black comb was a huge hit with the swarm! We also used lemon grass oil to bait them.

Where did you buy your eggs. I want ducks so badly but I don't know what I can trust and cant. Also with an automatic incubator do you just leave it until they start to hatch. And about how muxh do ducks cost to raise.
JosephTehCat depends if free ranged or not. It cost me 30$ cad a month to feed 50 ducks during winter months. It will be less during summer as they roam our acreage.
